DRAMATIC CLUB TO HEAR LECTURES ON THEATRICAL TOPICS

Revive Custom to Stimulate Interest in Theatrical Work--Announce List of Officers

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Active preparations for the spring play have been started by the Harvard Dramatic Club, the new officers of which have recently been announced. A tentative program of lectures by men prominent in dramatic art has also been scheduled.

The Dramatic Club will shortly resume an old custom, long in disuse, when Mr. F. Cowles Strickland, director of the Copley Players of Boston will lecture on some phase of dramatic art. The date has not yet been decided upon. Several similar addresses will be given during the spring, to carry out the organization's aim not only to produce two plays a year, but also to increase the interest of the University in its work and theatricals in general. These lectures will be on various phases of the theatre art, and will be open to all members of the University.

All Male Cast Possible

Nothing definite has yet been voted regarding the spring production. Plans are being made to produce it the week of April 27, a little earlier than customary, to avoid the reading period. Selections as to the play to be presented have narrowed down to several choices and one in particular which would emloy an all male cast. If this is chosen, it will mean that for the first time in many years the Radcliffe Idler Society will not cooperate, the lack of female roles making its assistance unnecessary.

Trials for all parts will begin early in March and it is expected that rehearsals will be under way by the middle of the month.

The officers elected at the recent meeting for the present year are as follows: vice president, J. S. Williams '32, of Omaha, Neb. (temporarily acting president): secretary, Charles Lane '32, of Glen Ridge, N. J.; and treasurer, W. L. West '32, of St. Paul, Minn. Members of the executive committee, as announced last month, are: J. B. Jackson '32, Gilbert Mottla '32, Louis Perry '32. On the play reading committee are: O. V. Wootten '32, O. Z. Whitehead '34, Asa Phillips '34.
