About 45 football men desiring light spring practice met in the Briggs Cage yesterday afternoon in response to the call of Captain C. H. Hageman '33 for candidates for next fall's University eleven. Although the customary spring football drills have been discontinued this year, an enthusiastic group rallied for the first of the seven weekly sessions of informal practice, the institution of which was the outcome of a meeting at the Varsity Club on January 11.
The hours practice in handling the ball, especially the throwing of forward passes, proceeded under the direction of Coaches E. L. Casey '19 and James Knox, and lasted from 4 until 5 o'clock. Except for those members now engaged in hockey and track and other winter sports, practically the whole of last year's squad turned out.
