That the depression years have witnessed a marked improvement in scholarship by Harvard Freshmen is indicated by a study of the records of recent Freshman classes, made public yesterday.

The record of last year's Freshman class, is the best of any first-year class since the present requirements were established nine years ago, and the classes of the last three years have all shown a steady improvement. The Freshman class which entered Harvard in 1929 ended the year with 20.6 per cent of its students in the unsatisfactory group. The class entering in 1930 showed only 17.2 per cent unsatisfactory, and for last year's class, the figure was cut to 13.6 per cent. The percentage of honor students has also shown an increase.
