The highest award of the School of Landscape and Architecture has been awarded to A. C. Sylvester, a graduate of the University of Maine in 1927. This award is known as the Charles Eliot Travelling Fellowship in Landscape Architecture. The terms of the scholarship arrange for the winner to spend a year abroad, travelling in France, Spain, Italy, and England.
While abroad, Sylvester will study the architecture that is traditional on the continent. He will make observations with regard to old and new trends in the execution of landscape processes. The award was made following the announcement of a contest calling for plans of a community club and social center.
