SAYRE LIKELY TO HOLD STATE COMMISSION JOB

According to information received last night from DeWitt DeWolfe, secretary to Governor Ely, a great deal of the news printed in last night's papers concerning the selection by Governor Ely of Francis Bowes Sayre, professor of Law at Harvard University, for the post of State Commissioner of Correction is gossip. "To be sure," Mr. DeWolfe said, "a man such as Professor Sayre, who is not seeking the job, would undoubtedly have a better chance than a man who was interested in obtaining it.

"The Governor may be seriously considering the selection of Professor Sayre for the post of State Commissioner of Correction, or he may not," Mr. DeWolfe continued. "There is no knowledge to make me believe it, and half a dozen others are being considered. I do know that the Governor has not definitely decided as yet. Professor Sayre is a very high-class man and would be an excellent choice for the position. I am not sure, however, that he would even accept the job, if it was offered to him."
