PERRY DELIVERS LAST OF LECTURES UPON GOETHE

Delivering the last of the lectures in connection with the Goethe centenial, Bliss Perry, Francis Lee Higginson professor of English Literature, emeritus, will speak at 8 o'clock tonight in Sanders Theatre on the subject, "The Road to Weimar". The Pierian Sodality and the Harvard Glee Club will render musical selections as a part of the program, which is under the direction of the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures.

Professor Perry's subject is the story of the first English and American students who visited Goethe at Weimar, especially of those Americans who, after their stay in Germany, brought back the ideals of the writer to this country, making a beginning of the study of Goethe in the United States.

This is the final Goethe Festival meeting, marking the climax of a series which has been held during February and March. The previous speakers were Dr. Eugen Kuehneman, professor of Philosophy at the University of Breslau, Dr. Gerhart Hauptmann, foremost German playwright, and Dr. Friedrich von der Leyen of the University of Cologue, professor of German Art and Literature.

The programs were arranged in commemoration of the life and works of Goethe, who died March 22, 1832. The meetings will be open to members of the University and Radcliffe College.
