UNIVERSITY HANDICAP MEET SCHEDULED TODAY

SIX OUTSTANDING ENTRANTS IN HALF MILE RACE

With over 100 men entered in 15 events, finals in the University handicap track meet will take place on Soldiers' Field this afternoon, beginning at 2.30 o'clock. Entries are open until the starting time for all members of the University, including graduate students and men on probation. Liberal handicaps will be given to all inexperienced entries.

Trials were held in all events yesterday and semi-finals were run off in all except the 220-yard dash. Winners of each race and field event will be presented with photographs of cups kept in the Dillon Field House, while men who take second and third places will receive small medals in silver and bronze, respectively.

Half Mile Outstanding

In the half-mile race, G. H. Bullwinkle 1G.Ed., N.Y.U. star last year, will make his appearance. Other important entrants in this contest, which will probably be the most spectacular of the afternoon, are: R. C. Aldrich 1L., captain of the 1930 cross country team, E. F. Bowditch '35, A. B. Hallowell '34, N. P. Hallowell '32, and J. B. White '34.

Only one man is starting from scratch in the 220-yard dash, N. P. Dodge '33; the other promising entrants are T. F. Locke '35 and C. C. Calvin '35, both members of the Freshman relay team this winter. N. P. Hallowell '32 will run in the 440, with J. M. Morse '34 the only other prospective scorer.

E. E. Record '32, captain of the track team, will start from scratch in both hurdles events; his chief competitor will be G. S. Clark 1G.B., former Cornell track star. W. C. McCarty '35 is the only outstanding entrant in the 100-yard dash.

Outstanding entrants in the mile run are Bullwinkle, Aldrich, White, and John Wiggins '33, a new candidate who has shown much promise. F. D. Murphy '33, J. N. Fox '32 and Arthur Foote III '33, captain-elect of the cross country team are entered in the two mile race.

The field events, with the men who have showed up best in practice are: javelin, R. F. Estes '34, A. E. Wahlgren '34; hammer throw, M. J. Finlayson '32; pole vault, Francis Schumann '35, J. D. Woodberry '35; high jump, G. W. Kuchn '32, D. A. Herman '32; shot put, Kuehn, J. J. Healey '34, J. H. Dean '34; broad jump, J. M. Morse, W. C. McCarty '35; discuss, Dean, Healey, and R. P. Buch '34.
