UNIVERSITY BASEBALL TEAM MEETS COLUMBIA

The University baseball team will be seeking to avenge an early season defeat when it meets a strong Columbia nine on Soldiers Field tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. The starting time has been advanced one half hour so that the New Yorkers may make train connections after the game. Devens is slated for mound duty and will have to be in top form to gain a victory over the Lions, who have a remarkable ability to make their hits count, as shown by the first Harvard-Columbia game.

Coach Mitchell has not definitely announced his lineup yet, but it is presumed that Wood will be back at short-stop, with Mays at second. Although Kiernan showed up well in Wednesday's victory over Brown, the veterans are expected to be back at their regular positions tomorrow. The experiment of Sheldon behind the bat and Fincke at first worked so well that they will probably continue in those positions. Thacher's homer against the Bruins seems to have assured him of the third base position, while Ware will probably be in center field, since Gleason is in the Infirmary with an infected foot.
