MIKKOLA PREPARES FOR WINTER TRACK SEASON

Forty Men Attend Informal Practice In Sprints and Jumps -- Handicap Meet Tomorrow For All Men

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

About 40 men have been attending informal track practice under Coach Mikkola this fall in preparation for the winter track season which opens with the Knights of Columbus meet on January 37. Special attention has been devoted to starts and sprinting while the Freshmen have been concentrating in sprinting and high jumping. Because "Cliff" Gallagher has been transfered to coaching Freshman Football, Coach Jaake Mikkola, cross country coach, has taken charge of fall track this year.

Informal practice will continue until the Christmas vacation and regular practice will begin immediately after the recess. Five meets will be held as follows: Knights of Columbus, January 27 Boston Athletic Association. February 10: University Club, February 17: Intercollegiates, March 3; Triangular, March 10.

A handicap track meet will be held tomorrow at Soldiers Field at 2 o'clock. More than fifty men, including seven track men, have already signed to participate.
