OBSERVATORY TO BEGIN SERIES OF OPEN NIGHTS

Beginning the annual series of "Open Nights" at the Harvard Astronomical Observatory, Dr. Carol A. Ricke, eminent physical scientist, will give a short non-technical talk on "Measuring Stellar Distances" next Saturday at 7.30 o'clock. Weather permitting the audience will be allowed to make telescopic observations of celestial objects following the address.

The "Open Nights" at the Observatory, which are sponsored by the Bond Astronomical Club for the purpose of acquainting the public with astral phenomena, will this year be four in number. On Tuesday, November 7. Fletcher Watson. Jr., will discuss "Meteor Showers": on Thursday, November 9. "The Planets" will be the subject of Loring B. Andrews '26, instructor in Astronomy; and on Monday, November 13. Dr. F.L. Whipple will end the series with a talk on "Comets, Old and New."

Tickets must be obtained in advance, and will be given for only one of the rights, due to the limited seating capacity of the lecture room at the Observatory. They may be had free of charge upon written application to the Observatory, and it is urged by the officers in charge that early application be made.
