THE CRIME

An assistant manager of basketball was taking the attendance at practice. Going up to one of the dribblers standing apart from the others, he demanded, "What's your name?"

The man mumbled an unintelligible reply.

"Well, what team are you out for?"

The man didn't seem to have any very definite ideas on that subject either.

"Well, what are you here for then anyway?"

"Oh, I'm one of the coaches."

"Oh."

Whatever may be the truth of the other charges against him, no one can accuse Candidate Robart of lacking a sense of humor. The sound truck which states that he should be elected sheriff yesterday went through the square playing "I Never Had A Chance."
