In contrast to the red, green, and blue spires which now dominate the Cambridge sky-line, the new tower on the Adams House unit rising where Russell Hall stood, will be gilded, it was announced yesterday by J. P. Baxter, associate professor of History, and Master of Adams House.
The unit will be known as C-entry. In next year's House plan booklet the names Westmorly and Randolph will be dropped; the erstwhile gold coast dormitories were not given to the University, and there is no obligation to perpetuate the names.
At the same time it was learned that the new unit of the House will contain nine single and 23 double Suites, in addition to accommodations for three non-resident and two resident tutors. The public rooms, on the ground floor, will include dressing-rooms, a ladies' cloak-room, and a music room, which will be provided with a piano, a victrola, and a supply of records.
There will also be a small committee-room, which will be available for organization meetings or for an extra dining-room. The main entrance hall will be extended to the right, leading to the foot of the new staircase, and will be finished in stone similar to that used in the halls already constructed.
It is hoped that the first floor of the building will be finished in time for Commencement Day in June.
