Wesley C. Mitchell, professor of Economics at Columbia University, and chairman of former President Hoover's research committee on current social trends, will speak Wednesday evening at 7.30 o'clock in the Upstairs common Room of the Union on "Current Economic Trends."
With the announcement of Professor Mitchell's speech, it was learned last night that a new subcommittee of the Union committee has been formed in order to bring speakers, prominent in University and educational circle, to address the Freshman class. Braman Gibbs '36 is chairman of this new group, to be known as the Freshman Committee on faculty address. The other members are Davies Gratwick '36 and R. M. Terrall '36.
Although this idea is not entirely original, since the 1935 Union Committee attempted to work out a similar plan last year, its outlines have been considerably broadened. It is hoped that several professors, prominent in other colleges as well, will speak.
