J. H. Williams, professor of Economics, has been appointed Economist of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, it was announced yesterday. His leave of absence from the University will be acted upon at a meeting of the Corporation on Monday, May 8. Professor Williams' new appointment begins as soon as it will be possible for him to leave his duties at Harvard, and will last one year.
Professor Williams, an internationally famous authority on monetary problems, was sent last October to Europe as one of two American representatives to examine questions of economic policy.
