Frank Joseph Owen '37, of Gardner, was elected captain of the Freshman baseball team yesterday afternoon. Owen, who has been playing a beautiful game at second base so far this season, is a former Mercersburg Academy player. Fielding well all year and being one of the leading batters, he has been a mainstay of the team. Traveling to Danvers this afternoon, the 1937 nine will meet the St. John's team. In spite of the fact that Danvers is a long ways off in the country, its baseball team has had a remarkably successful season so far this year, downing Andover by a score of 17-3, Lord Tannis 16-4, and New England School of Accounting 18-3. The Crimson sluggers thus may find themselves hard pushed to uphold their record of eight wins and one defeat. The Harvard lineup will be the same as that scheduled for yesterday's game with Lawrence Academy which was called because of rain; Proctor Avon will again start on the mound. The Jayvee nine will play Worcester Academy this afternoon at Worcester. The Junior Varsity team has been defeated once so far this year at the hands of Andover by a score of 9-7. They won their other two games by close margins. The Worcester outfit has a strong squad with a spotless record behind it.
