TRIALS FOR DEBATING COUNCIL ON THURSDAY

In preparation for its initial discussion, with Radcliffe on Wednesday, October 30, the Debating Council held its first meeting of the year in the Lowell House Common Room last evening.

Trials for the team will be held Thursday evening at 7.30 o'clock, place to be announced in tomorrow's CRIMSON.

All undergraduates are eligible to take part in the debates, and candidates are asked to prepare a speech of not more than five minutes on either side of one of the following questions: "Resolved" That Italy is the unjust aggressor in the Ethiopian dispute," "Resolved: That the Roosevelt Administration deserves the confidence of the American people", and "Resolved: That the greatest problem of our national society is constitutional reform."

The Council plans to hold several open parliamentary discussions, the first of which is to be held on Wednesday, November 6. All members of the University are invited to take part in these.

Two debates with Yale, the first at Meriden, Connectieut, and the second at Waterbury, Connectieut, are scheduled for Wednesday, November 20 and Monday, December 9, respectively.
