In the course of a day, 11,340 pieces of bread are consumed in the University Dining Halls, or an average of 2.47 pieces per person, according to the latest flood of statistics.
Assuming that an average student could eat one slice of bread in one minute, it can be easily seen that there are 189 bread-hours in a Harvard day.
To supply the adequate number of pieces, 315 loaves are baked daily. Of these, 200 are white bread, 50 rye, 45 raisin and 15 of both whole wheat and bran.
