Under the competent coaching of Harry Cowles, the Harvard Varsity squash team has never lost an intercollegiate match in 16 years. This represents one of the country's most enviable records, and means 16 consecutive wins over Yale.

This year's captain is Richard M. Dorson '37. Following in the footsteps of men like E. Rotan Sargent '36, Richard W. Gilder '36, 1G, and Germaine G. Glidden '36, 1L, he has a tremendous reputation to live up to. Many believe he will equal their records, as he has to date won three important matches.

His first great victory over Thomas E. Jansen, Jr. '26, at one time runnerup in the National Championships, in three straight sets, was followed by an equally astounding win over Carroll Harrington '24, reputedly one of Rhode Island's best players, in five close matches. The third match was played this week with Lyman H. B. Olmsted, one of Barry Cowles' proteges, and the thirteenth ranking player in the state. Dorson won in three out of four.

The Varsity class "C" squash team crossed racquets with M.I.T. yesterday, and beat them badly, 5-0. Those who won their matches were: Francis H. Appleton, 3d '39 over N. Dow; Hendrik DeKruik '38 over I, Peskoe; Marshall Field, Jr. '38 over L. B. MacGruder; Robert H. Shaw '37 over T. E. Langs; and Lawrence Ross '37 over G. L. Estes.

During the holidays on Thursday, December 31, several matches will be played by members of the squad. At the Harvard Club of New York's courts, just off Times Square, four members of the class "A" squad will meet Purdue. Those will be Captain Dorson, Daniel E. Burbank, Jr. '37, Alvah W. Sulloway '38, Robert O. Easton '38, and Field.
