Golf Prospects Bright

Finally beginning to reach the form that Coach Hodder hoped to see long ago, the Varsity golfers will go into the last lap of their schedule with a good chance of ranking high in the Eastern Intercollegiate Golf League.

Friday the team will face Pennsylvania and Saturday the brilliant Princeton aggregation and Georgetown will meet Hodder's men over the Oakley course where at the same time, the players will be competing in the New England Intercollegiate medal tournament. Princeton, being undefeated, is naturally expected to set back the Crimson six, but Harvard is in an excellent position to spring an upset, since the Oakley course is short and tricky and Harvard will have an advantage in that they are familiar with the layout.

Coach Hodder is especially enthusiastic about his team's chances because of its great improvement during the past week. Charlie Bellows surprised the Boston sport writers last weekend by leading the qualifying in the Country Club Cup Tournament. Bob Hunter has been scoring well in the interclub matches, and Lyn Lardner, former Wisconsin State Champion and Hodder's mainstay, has been playing in top-notch form.

Princeton 150-Pound Crew Confident

Princeton, N. J., Princeton's 150-Pound Crew Prospects--May 13, 1935--Its best season in years is in prospect as the Tiger lightweight crew prepares to go to Cambridge next Saturday to battle Yale and Harvard's fifties in the Goldthwait Cup races.

With the scalps of M.I.T., Columbia and Penn already under their belt the 150-pounders are given their best chance in years of taking the trophy. In their performances to date the Tigers are about on a par with the Yale boat which they consider their biggest threat next Saturday. Both beat M.I.T. by about the same margin, but the Orange and Black oarsmen opened up a little more water on Columbia.

The present Princeton lineup is a fixture and there is about as much chance of another man crashing his way into the company of Dave Roberts, Hank Roberts, Stew Ranch, Pete Cook, Dev Warner, Captain Chevy Echeverria, Al Edwards, Killer Cooks, and Cox Peanut MacRae as the Princeton Varsity has of winning at Poughkeepsie (where it is not entered.)
