Six Harvard Men Receive Honorary Degrees in N. E.

Six Harvard men were among those honored at commencement in New England Colleges early this week. Amherst, Colby, Dartmouth and Williams were those conferring the degrees.

At Colby, Kirtley F. Mather, professor of Geology, was the speaker at the Commencement exercises and also received an honorary doctor of science degree. Mather was a leader in the fight against the Teacher's oath Bill during the last year. Henry W. Dunn of the Business School also received an honorary degree from the Maine College.

Samuel Eliot Morison, distinguished Harvard historian, received the degree of doctor of letters, at Amherst College.

Thomas Barbour, director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology was the recipient of a degree of doctor of science at Dartmouth's exercises.

At Williams, Henry L. Shattuck, treasurer of the University, and Morris B. Lambie, political scientist, were both honored, the former as doctor of laws, the second doctor or humane letters.
