Wendell Prize in History, Literature to Schlesinger

Schomer Awarded Prize for Most Promising Junior

Arthur Meier Schlesinger, Jr. '38, of Cambridge, won the Barrett Wendell Prize given annually to the Sophomore in the field of History and Literature who has made the most progress during the year.

The award is based on tutorial work during the year and on an essay; only the six most promising Sophomores in the field are invited to compete. Schlesinger chose Henry Adams' History of the United States for his prize.

Howard Franklin Schomer '37, of Oak Park, Illinois, has been awarded the History and Literature Prize given the Junior who is considered to be the most promising student among his classmates in this field. He will be given $50 to be spent on books.

He has also won second place in the Bowdoin Prize essays both this and last year.
