Kirkland House, which practically clinched the House championship by its victory over Eliot Thursday, annexed the title finally yesterday, since Winthrop was held to a 0-0 tie by Leverett. If the Puritans had been able to defeat Leverett and Kirkland they would have finished in a tie with the Deacons.
This year's title is the second straight for Kirkland. Bernie White, Deacon mentor, now has a record of two championships during three years' coaching.
Yesterday's clash between Winthrop and Leverett was just about what was to be expected from these two strong defensive teams. The Rabbits had what little edge there was in the tilt-but they spoiled their chances by sloppy ball-handling. Each side came within two yards of making a score during the game, and at one point Leverett made a first down on the Puritan four-yard stripe.
