Radcliffe bowed to Harvard in a spelling bee held Saturday afternoon over a National Broadcasting Company hook-up. The contest cannot be called official, since the Dean's office would not sanction a spelling team to go out under the University's banner before an audience of 10,000,000.
Elaine Fraser, the Radcliffe winner, and third in the whole match, dressed in a trim blue woolen skirt and a blouse and low-heeled shoes, made the following statement for publication: "If I told you what I really thought--!"
Arthur L. Racine '39, the $50 prizewinner, said that more emphasis should be placed on spelling in the College.
