Chapman Wins $50 Prize In '39 Tutorial Essay Contest

Winner of first place in the English Sophmore Tutorial Prize contest, announced yesterday was Joseph W. Chapman '39 who was awarded $50 worth of books for his tutorial essay entitled "Sir Thomas More."

Honorable Mention in the contest went to Frederick E. Pamp '39 who wrote his essay on John Bunyan's "Grace Abounding," and also to James P. O'Donnell '39, for a paper titled "Dichtung und Waharheit in Shakespere's Sonnets."

The Judges of the essays were Robert Hillyer '17, associate professor of English, Theodore Spencer, assistant professor of English, and Theodore Morrison '19, instructor of English. They announced that all essays may be obtained by competitors at Holyoke House 16.
