Plant for their last big social events of the year are receiving final touches at Eliot and Lowell House as the Elephants and Bellboys prepare for their Spring dances tomorrow night.
Broadcast Part of Lowell Dance
Featuring two orchestras and a floor show under the direction of "Stuff" Smith from the Onyx Club in New York, the Lowell affair has the added attraction of Rudolf Friml's orchestra broadcasting over a coast-to-coast hook-up. Yours and your partner's feet will shuffle over the national air waves via N.B.C. from 12:30 to 1 o'clock if you attend.
A large space for dancing has been provided, the floor of the common room and the open air court adding to the dining room's stomping-ground. Supper is being served outside in the court-yard to the guests who are expected to come as though ship-wrecked to the "Ship-Wreck Ball." Tickets are $5.00 per couple and $3:00 stag.
Chick Webb at Eliot House
Eliot House's dinner dance at 7:15 o'clock boasts the music of Chick Webb's orchestra, the singing of Elia Fitzgerald, and dancing until 2:00 o'clock. The dining room has been specially decorated and the preparations for dancing under the stars on the terrace have given the dance its name, "The Terrace Dance."
Charles Burwell '39 and Francis C. Eaton '38 head the committee in charge of arrangements. Semi-formal dress is requested, and the tickets are $3.75 per couple and $2.25 stag.
