Would-be Doctors Operate on Tennis Court, Chandelier

Riot Early Yesterday in Medical School; Damage Estimated as High as $2000

Not to be outdone in "the active expression of a jubilant spirit" by the young and innocent boys in Harvard College, 150 would-be physicians of the graduating class of the Medical School gave Back Bay an unexpected thrill early yesterday morning.

They had attended the annual Fourth Year Dinner, where speeches had been given by Dean Burwell, Richard H. Miller '04, Clinical Professor of Surgery, and Dr. Channing Frothingham '02.

Even before the dinner had broken up, the sound of glasses being broken on the floor in 4-4 time began to pervade the room. The German prizefighter student who was finally located was told to "get out if you don't want to listen." "Who could gat oudt?" boomed the reply.

Emerging from the Common Room an hour or so later, the Seniors were greeted from above with emptied (not for long) buckets of water. Thus invigorated, they proceeded to turn a fire hose on the tennis courts and take down all the nets, including back nets.

Having in this way operated on the courts, they returned to the Common Room, where they attacked a glass chandelier with beer cans. Finding the broken glass pretty cumbersome on the wooden floor, they ground it in with their heels.

When the class objected to the estimate of $2000 damage, including two new fire hoses, the janitor locked the Common Room as "exhibit A" until the management could see for themselves. As yet no estimate on the damage has been given, but when it is, it will be divided among the members of the class, it is understood.
