ED INGALLS CHECKS LAST INNING THREE RUN RALLY

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Avenging their previous 11-5 defeat at the hands of the Jumbos, the Crimson nine, paced by the twirling of Slim Curtiss, staved off a last inning Tufts rally to emerge victorious from the enemy Oval 4-2 Saturday afternoon, disappointing the cheering Alumni Day crowd.

In his third win in four starts during the past two weeks, Curtiss held the opposing batters to four scratch hits for a single run in the first eight frames. Tiring in the ninth, the sopohomore right-hander gave way to Ed Ingalls, after allowing four base knocks and three tallies. Ingalls forced the Tufts batter to ground out to the pitcher's box retiring the side.

Trailing the Jumbos who scored once in the first, the Varsity tied the count in the fourth inning when the singling Tom Bilodeau dashed home on Frank Owen's safe clout. The Crimson took the lead in the fifth as Colwell walked, advanced to second on Curtiss' bunt, and crossed the plate on Art Johns' line drive to left.

In the sixth canto, a base on balls, an error, and four safe blows by the Crimson apparently put the game on ice, but he Tufts batters rallied dangerously in the ninth. Three runs on four hits and a misplay were chalked up, before Ingalls' fast ball subdued the Jumbos.
