BATTERY ASPIRANTS TO REPORT FOR PRACTICE

Some 20 to 35 pitchers and catchers are expected to report to the first practice of the baseball team at the Briggs cage this afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Coach Fred Mitchell should have a stronger mound staff this season than last year. Ed Ingalls, first Varsity hurler for two years, will return for his last season and is expected to be an even bigger winner for the Crimson nine.

Curtiss and Shean Returning

Slim Curtiss, with a year's seasoning, will doubtlessly become a regular starter, while Dave Shean may be again shifted from third base or the outfield for service on the mound.

Tom Healey, Freshman twirler last year, who defeated the Yale Cubs, Don Prouty, and Art Johns are other twirlers who will receive considerable attention.

Catcher Berth Open

With the graduation of the two regular catchers, Mitchell will need considerable time to develop a first team back-stop. Paul Doyle, Varsity understudy last year, and Elli Bacon of the Jayvees are returning.

As captain of the Yardling nine last season, Bob Fulton attracted considerable notice. His hitting and catching ability make him a strong contender for the position left vacant by the graduation of Al Colwell and Frank Owen.
