Sponsored by the Harvard Memorial Society and the Union Committee, Charles Haven, noted fire arm expert, will discuss the development of fire arms.
"Don't fire until you can see the whites of their eyes, boys," the command uttered as the British troops stormed Bunker Hill, has become one of the famous quotations in American history.
Mr. Haven points out, however, that very few people realize that the musket used by American troops would not shoot any further. "You had to be able to see a man's eyes in order to shoot him," Haven has discovered.
Haven has collected and studied guns for 20 years and is himself a very skillful marksman. Due to his long study of fire arms, he is a recognized authority and has written for many periodicals.
