Crimson Nine In Letdown Loss to Tufts 13-4 Here

SEVEN CRIMSON HITS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Showing the effects of a hard three-game weekend, the Varsity baseball team took a shellacking from Tufts yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field. It was an off day for the boys. Harvard had a fine first inning. They batted all round, tow hits and no less than four bases on balls being good for three runs. Bob Gannett and Lupe Lupien contributed the blows.

Hatch Hot on Mound

Unfortunately Tufts' pitcher Al Hatch was just warning up. He just warmed and warmed and warmed. Except for the seventh, when a bingle by Art Johns and a double by Rud Hoye netted the fourth and last Crimson tally, Hatch was hot.

The other side of the picture is not so, favorable, however. Tufts made 12 hits, most of them coming when they meant most after Crimson errors had set up perfect run scoring situations. The Jumbos were helped by two errors at the hands of the infield, and two overthrows by the catcher to third base enabled them to add to their number of runs.

After Slim Curtiss was taken out in the sixth to be replaced by Frank Foley, Tufts kept right on scoring to finish up the ball game with a score of 13 to 4.   ab  r  n  po  a  o Gannett, cf  5  1  2  2  0  1 Johns, 2b  4  2  2  2  3  1 Lupien, 1b  5  1  2  12  2  0 Grondahl, ss  5  0  0  2  1  3 Hoye, rf  3  0  1  3  0  0 Weiner, lf  3  0  0  3  0  0 Fulton, c, 3b  2  0  0  2  2  2 Ulin, 3b  1  0  0  0  2  1 Gallucio**  1  0  0  0  0  0 Doyle, c  1  0  0  0  0  0 Curtiss, p  1  0  0  1  2  0 Foley, p  2  0  0  0  1  0   33  4  7  27  13  8
