Inter-House debating was launched prematurely last night as a Lowell House, intra-Council, team faced a Wellesley contingent in the Wellesley Congregational Church for a non-decision contest. The subject was: "Resolved, That the business policies of the New Deal are detrimental to the best interests of small business."
Those holding forth for the Crimson group were Robin Scully '40, Victor C. Vaughn '40, Paul W. Cherington '40, Secretary of the Council, and Ward MacL. Hussey '40.
The debate was an example of the type of debate projected for the intra-Council extension debates as a competition between houses. It is planned to have an audience decision given in all debates and these decisions will determine standings in the house league.
On Tuesday evening, at the Broadway Church, Somerville, another debate will be held. The season of inter-House competition will end May 16, according to the plan.
