Dental School Inaugurates Public Health Department

Dean Miner in Annual Report Stresses Need for Trained Men

In order to meet an increasing demand for dental officers in departments of public health, the Dental School has organized a new graduate field of study in "Public Health Dentistry," Leroy M. S. Miner, Dean of the Dental School, said yesterday in his annual report.

Administered jointly with the School of Public Health, the new department was organized because of the fact that the experience of city and state health departments has shown that there are practically no men available with specialized training in this field, Dr. Miner said.

"Among informed people it is quite generally agreed that dental health is ultimately related to the health of the individual as a whole, and that the problem of dental disease is a public health matter," he stated.
