Sponsored by Archibald MacLeish, Curator of the Nieman Collection, authors Booth Tarkington and Thornton Wilder, and Professor William Lyon Phelps of Yale, a new Ivy-League magazine has been announced for publication in October of next year. The magazine, entitled "Harpy," will contain work of students from Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
"Harpy" will be edited by a board of undergraduates from the three universities and will feature artistic and literary contributions from students of the Big Three.
Dwight Dickinson '40 will head the Harvard group on the board of the new publication. Other Cambridge members are Craig Moore '41, David Hume '40, John Crane '40, and Edward Weren '42.
Mr. MacLoish, in expressing his support of the magazine, asserted that "Harpy" would fulfill a special need in the three colleges, for it represents a new departure in intercollegiate journalism.
Professor William Lyon Phelps has been especially emphatic in his approval, saying "It is a wonder to me that nothing of this sort has been started before. There is a certain unity of sentiment among the three colleges that cannot be found in any other group of universities in this country."
