Upperclassmen and Freshmen Divide Combination Crew Positions Evenly

Three Men Rowed Against Yale Comby Last Year; Managers Picked for '40 - '41

Mon of the third Varsity and of the second Freshman crows who will row in the combination crew against Yale at New London after Commencement were selected by Tom Bolles, Varsity coach, with Harvey Love, Freshman coach.

Four men were taken from the Freshman second crew and four from the third Varsity this year; three of the oarsmen, A. Barr Comstock '40, stroke, John B. Reece '41, number seven, and Alexander H. Whitman '41, number five, were in the "Comby crew" last year, and pulled the same cars on the Third this year.

Pennoyer Handicapped

Paul Pennoyer '42, six man, stroked the first Freshman Crew at the beginning of the season, but after losing time because of a pulled muscle he became number four on the Second.

Peter Goodwin '9, number four, had the same oar in the third Varsity, but this will be his first experience in the combination crew. Ewing Walker '42, number three, rowed number seven on the Fresh second; Edward Perkins '42, stroked the second crew; Reginald Fitz '42, bow, held the same position on the second crew of his Class.

Arthur Kiney '41, cox, was an alternate for the same position on the Varsity third crew.

Crew Managers Announced

Results of the Crew Manager competition, announced last night, revealed that Roger I. Lee '41, of Winthrop House had been chosen Manager of the Varsity Crew for the year 1940-41. Manager of the Varsity Crew will be Robert C. Hooper '41 of Winthrop House.

Winners of the YArdling Crew competition were Joseph Reed '42, of Holworthy, who will manage the Freshmen Crew and George H. Hord '42 of Wigglesworth who will be in charge of the 150 Freshmen.
