CADET FIVE SCUTTLES CRIMSON SQUAD, 45-34

A sharpshooting band of Cadets from West Point had far too many guns for a slightly befuddled Crimson hoop squad Saturday night in the Indoor Athletic Building and shot its way to an easy 45 to 34 decision.

The West Pointers were rangy and deceptively smooth, showing Wes Fesler's men some really aggressive defensive tactics and uncanny marksmanship. A full house had opportunities to cheer for about five minutes as the young Crimson five battled the Army on even terms.

But the visitors broke this early 7 to 7 tie with a vengeance and rolled up an insurmountable 32 to 15 halftime lead. The Feslermen were better organized and played improved basketball after the intermission, but the smooth working Cadets were never in danger. The first-string performers played less than half of the final period.

Charley Lutz was the leading Harvard scorer but totaled only nine points; Bud Finegan eaged six gift tosses to be the second Crimson scorer with Bill Webber who picked up two baskets and two free throws. Ed Buckley played most of the last period at guard and did his best job of the season. Center Ed Rothschild collected five points during a long stay in the fray.

The Freshmen trounced Tabor Academy in a preliminary to the Varsity, 42 to 25. Art Scully was high man with 18 points for the Stableymen.
