Captain Langdon Burwell paced Jaakko Mikkola's cross country squad to an easy 20 to 41 win over Holy Cross on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. The Freshmen narrowly missed a shutout victory as they swept the first four places to win 18 to 44.

Burwell was nosed out of first place honors in the Varsity meet by Crusader Francis Kelley, a sophomore, who finished a stride ahead of the Crimson leader in 29:17.6. A flurry of Crimson harriers finished hot on the heels of the two leaders, with Bob Jay, Joe McLoughlin, John Sopka and Kay Rogers crossing the line in that order. Joe Scott and Bob Nichols, who finished eighth and ninth, were the only other Mikkolamen among the first ten.

William Palson, who finished 200 yards ahead of the field in the Yearling race, was elected captain of the 1944 team after the meet. The next three places were snared by Tim Coggeshall, Marsh Hughes and Robert Mead in that order.
