In a strategic move designed to strengthen the Crimson right flank, Senior Joe Koufman, who has been stationed at the right guard position since the beginning of the season, was moved back to his old end post and Don Lowry was promoted to first string right guard by Coach Dick Harlow as the varsity worked out for over two hours in a steady drizzle yesterday afternoon.
Don Forte, Sophomore wingman, was sent down to the seconds and Joe Ferris, a guard, was up from the third eleven as a result of the shift.
Played End Last Year
Koufman is not new at the wing spot. He played there last year against Pennsylvania and Dartmouth but was forced out with a shoulder injury. At the start of this season he was scheduled to hold down the first string end post, but Dick Harlow, faced with a shortage of guards, tried Koufman in that position and was so well satisfied that he kept him there.
Hard-driving Mort Waldstein was tried out at bucking back on the first eleven as the squad drilled against the Michigan offense, worked on passes, and practiced punting under pressure. The fight for the bucking back post is still undecided as Bill Brown and the Sophomore, Waldstein carry on a personal battle for the starting honors on Saturday.
The Maize and Blue squad will arrive in Boston at 10:40 o'clock on Friday morning at the South Station and will work out in the stadium that afternoon. Saturday's game which is expected to draw a crowd of over 30,000 will be described by Jim Britt over the Colonial network.
