DUNSTER FIELD GOAL BEATS DUDLEY AS LOWELL VANQUISHES ELIOT 12-0

After rising to great heights last week to edge heavily favored Kirkland 7-6, the Eliot eleven took a long tumble yesterday afternoon as Lowell capitalized on breaks to grab its first victory of the year 12-0. Meanwhile, Kirkland and Winthrop were battling to a 0-0 tie, and Dunster, after pushing Dudley all over the field, finally eked out a 3-0 win.

John Cochrane jumped on a bad Eliot center in the first period to give Lowell the ball on the 2. A Slight penalty meant nothing to Joe "The Masked Marvel" Lyford, who smashed off tackle on the first play to score standing up.

Dean Morse once again brought the Bellboys into scoring position in the second quarter, when he ran back a punt to the 7-yard line, but That Man Lyford once again grabbed the honors as he carried over for the touchdown. In the second half Eliot pulled no more boners, and Lowell got no more touchdowns, but two were more than enough for victory.

George "Distilled" Waters grabbed the spotlight for the Merrimen, while Bob Daniels's passing arm was a constant threat to the Bellboy eleven.

Broidrick's Kick Beats Commuters

Dunster had the Commuters all tied up in knots all afternoon, kept them outside the thirty, and threatened to score numerous times, but with three periods gone the game was still tied up. It took Tom Broidrick's too to finally rack up three points and put the game on ice with a few minutes left in the game, as charges with a perfect boot from twenty-he stole the march on Dick Harlow's five yards out.

Dunster's big push in the first quarter was stopped cold by the referee with a fifteen yard penalty for swearing before the assembled' crowd of feminine pulchritude.

Once again Johnny Santosuosso sparked the Commuters on the defense and offense, fighting valiantly through four quarters against the Funsters and Tom Broidrick in particular.

Winthrop Ties Kirkland

Kirkland missed a first down by inches of the Winthrop 5 to throw away the only scoring chance either team had all afternoon in the evenly matched contest. It was Joe Ahern, Chuck Griffith, and Jack Addington who led the Deacon attack that got nowhere against the Puritan eleven headed by Ralph Davenport in the line and Dick Eustis and Dick Loomis in the backfield.
