$51,000 GIVEN TO UNIVERSITY TO ESTABLISH CELTIC COURSE

$51,000 for the establishment of a course of study and research in Celtic language and literature was anonymously given the University yesterday at the St. Patrick's Day dinner celebrating the 203rd anniversary of the Charitable Irish Society at the Copley Plaza Hotel.

In announcing the gift, Benedict Fitzgerald, President of the Society said it was given by a "friend." The donation was accepted by Charles Francis Adams in behalf of President Conant.

Governor Saltonstall, '14, Senator Lodge, '23, Mayor Tobin, and Dr. Oliver St. George Gregory, Irish poet, gave addresses praising men of Irish blood for their contribution to the progress of the state and the nation.
