ELIOT HOUSE SENIOR JOINS AMERICAN AMBULANCE CORPS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Surprised were the parents of John F. Ballard '40 of Eliot House and Milton when they learned that their son would sail for France next month to join the American Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Admitting that he had often talked of volunteering because his prospects of getting a job after graduation seemed slim, they didn't believe that he would actually sign up. "Glamour is responsible for my son's desire to drive an ambulance," Mrs. Ballard said.

James W. Johnson, president of the corps, stated that the American Unit of five ambulances, would be sent to Norway from France as soon as communications were re-established. The volunteers will sail for Europe on May 4.
