VARSITY GOLFERS TRIM B.U. AT OAKLEY MONDAY

The Varsity golf team registered its second straight victory yesterday afternoon by defeating Boston University 5 1/2 to 3 1/2 on the tricky Oakley Country Club layout. Captain Ace Cordingley led the six-man Crimson squad by touring Oakley in 72, trouncing his opponent, Peck, 9-8, and teaming with Bob Graves to win the best ball point in the first foursome. Graves scored a 2 up individual win over Danahy of Boston University.

Harvard got its remaining points from Pete Macgowan, Watty Dickerman, and Jack McCann. Sophomore Macgowan rallied to beat Walsh of the Terriers in the number four spot, and McCann at number six from Sullivan. McCann and Dickerman halved the best ball in their foursome.

Don Peddie lost 2-1 at number three, and he and his partner Macgowan were defeated in their best ball match. Today the team travels to Amherst, meeting a strong Lord Jeff aggregation. Gerry Davis will be inserted into the Crimson lineup as Watty Dickerman is unable to make the trip.

The Freshmen open their season at Belmont this afternoon against M.I.T. The Crimson first-year men are of an uncertain quality so far, having played only once or twice this spring.
