Lose Three Doubles, One Single; Dave Burt Wins His Solo Match 6-1, 6-3

Scoring five wins in six singles matches, but dropping all three doubles matches, Coach Jack Barnaby's victorious racquet-wielders sent the Dartmouth squad down to defeat by a 5 to 4 count yesterday afternoon on the visitor's courts.

Captain Dave Burt led the singles winners with a 6-1, 6-3 win over the Indian number one man, Eckhardt. At the number two spot, Langdon Gilkey downed Avery in two hard fought sets, 6-4, 6-4. Stacey Hill was the only singles winner for Dartmouth, beating out Johnny Stewart, 6-1, 6-1.

In the other singles matches, Johnny Palfrey outclassed Snow 6-1, 6-2; Harris Westheimer beat out Willis 6-1, 6-3; and Chet Legg outclassed Leopold 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.

The Crimson courtmen suffered three setbacks in the doubles matches. The Palfrey-Stewart duo went down to defeat in three hard fought sets 7-5, 8-6, 6-4. Homer Peabody and Johnny Lyell were beaten 7-5, 6-2, while Dave Burt and Orme Wilson also lasted three sets only to lose, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
