"The ensuing play, which resulted in a touchdown by Lee, was the best one Harvard made throughout the game, for at that time the rushers broke through the line and blocked off beautifully, while Lee's work was superb. . . . Harvard's team was in some respects individually better than Princeton's. . . . The ground was a little slippery. . . ."
This contemporary sounding account appeared more than 50 years ago in the CRIMSON after the Princeton game on Saturday, November 16, 1889, and the Lee who scored the touchdown was James Parrish Lee '91, now a New York lawyer, who played left halfback for three Crimson teams.
Unfortunately, Leo's run was not the only scoring of the game. The Tiger of that year had somewhat sharper claws, and the CRIMSON announced, "Harvard Outplayed at Every Point; Princeton 41, Harvard 15."
