PBH WILL LECTURE BOSTON DRAFTEES

Math Course Extension in Settlement Houses Planned

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Designed to familiarize potential draftees with what is in store for them in the Army, and to advise them on what they can do about it, if anything, a new series of pre-induction lectures will soon be offered to the settlement houses of Greater Boston by Phillips Brooks House.

To be given by students in the University, the lectures will describe the workings of reception centers, the fundamentals of Army organization, and such preparation as may be advisable for life as a soldier.

Help Select Branch

An important part of the program, furthermore, will be an attempt to help the men to pick the branch of the service for which, on the basis of their aptitude and training, they are best suited.

Corollary to this scheme is a great expansion in the Undergraduate Faculty, which will hold classes in the settlement houses in math and physics to give their members training which will make them eligible for technical branches.
