American soldiers lost in the jungles may find the means of securing nourishment from tropical plants through information contained in a new War Department manual prepared by Elmer D. Merrill, Arnold Professor of Botany and director of the Arnold Arboreturn.
Says Merrill, "The jungle is in reality a relatively safe place, and this applies not only to potentially poisonous plant species, but also to poisonous snakes."
The war manual will be issued to Army and Navy personnel who may be assigned to duty in the tropics of the Orient.
