According to percentages computed after the opening week of the 1943 season, standings in the Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League show Columbia in first place, Cornell second, and Harvard and Yale tied for third. So far these are the only teams that have played.

The Lions gained their percentile lead in a single game, 1 49-40 triumph over Cornell. Cornell boosted Columbia's reputation by trouncing Yale, 55-27, at New Haven, and by next invading Cambridge and carrying off another victory, 49-34. Giles, Gallagher, and Hunter were high scorers for the Big Red quintet, while Crimson Captain Burditt starred for the losing team.

Dartmouth to Start

Dartmouth, last year's League champion, will start its season with a game Saturday night against Coach Red Rolfe's team. The Penn Quakers will play host to Harvard the same night in Philadelphia.

Princeton will not grace the League with its competition until the last week of January. The Tigers have lost four of their stars from last year's team, as well as their Coach, Cappy Cappon, who joined the Navy last week. Nevertheless, the Orange and Black are expected to offer stiff opposition to its League playmates.

Harvard has two players listed among the ten highest scorers of the Ivy League. The first ten in order to date are as follows: Players & College  Games  Gls.  Fls.  Pts.
