Local observance of Navy Day on October 27 will be high-lighted by the Soldiers Field event in which the Harvard Naval Training Schools pass in review before Rear Admiral R. A. Theobald, USN, Commandant of the First Naval District.
Starting at 11 o'clock, the hour-long ceremonies will be under the direction of the recently appointed Brigade Commander, Lt. Comdr. M. E. Paradise, USNR, Officer-in-charge of the Communications School. Handling preliminary plans for the review is Lt. Comdr. H. N. Marshall, USNR, of the Naval ROTC staff, who serves as Sub-Commander. Lt. (j.g.) H. M. Hansen, USNR, side to the Executive Officer of the Communications School, will act as Brigade Adjutant.
Taking part in the parade and exercises near the baseball diamond will be the four to five thousand midshipmen and officers of the Supply, Radar, Communications, and WAVE units here. The 950 officer candidates from the V-12 Unit will be on leave at this time, having been reviewed on October 11.
Accompanying Rear Admiral Theobald and members of his staff in the honored party will be Captain George N. Barker, USN, Commanding Officer of all naval activities here, and officials of the College.
Supplying the music for the precision marching, the district Coast Guard band will make its third Cambridge appearance since the beginning of the summer.
As has been the custom with similar affairs in the past, all interested persons are invited to attend the exercises, and ample space is available in the wooden baseball bleachers to accommodate 1000 spectators.
