Men Majoring in Sciences Receive Liberal Deferment

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Physics, chemistry, engineering and mathematics students have been affected by the liberalized deferent policies announced Saturday by the Selective Service Bureau which provides that an undergraduate in this field "shall be considered for deferment" if he will graduate by July 1, 1945.

The directive states that such full-time students will be eligible for deferment if they are in good standing and receive a certificate that they are "competent." The statement is, however, only advisory, for local boards must still consider applications Individually. Draft board 47 has heard nothing as yet.
