AIR RAID ENDS YARD CONCERT

State-wide Alert Finishes Second Glee Club Program

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Harvard Glee Club's final Yard Concert of the year was the only casualty as the University experienced a surprise air raid alert last night.

Aldrich Durant, chief of Harvard's ARP, announced that the alert went off "as well as could be expected," considering the surprise nature of the alarm. All Cambridge personnel cooperated with a minimum of hitches. Since the time of the test raid was unknown, no "incidents" were planned. An on-the-minute incident was arranged by the newly reshuffled Cambridge City Fire Department, who drove a truck to Widener steps to guard against incendiaries.

Last night's interruption was the second time that the Glee Club was prevented from giving its traditional Yard Concert. Last Tuesday rain cancelled the first of the two scheduled performances. Yesterday the singers got through the National Anthem and about a third of the scheduled program when the alert was sounded.
