Winthrop Ames Group Will Give Essay Prize

As a result of a two week discussion of Shakespeare's "Antony and Cleopatra" in English 23, by Winthrop Ames lecturer Harley Granville-Barker, the committee in charge of the Ames fund has announced a contest for the best student essay on any phase of the play.

Closing May 1, the contest, open only to the course's enrollment of approximately 125, restricts the essays to 3500 words. Granville-Barker will join Austin W. Scott, Dane Professor of Law, and Theodore Spencer, associate professor of English in judging the contest.
